Devi Glick, Virginia Sea Grant 2011 summer policy intern, first became interested in marine policy in high school, when she volunteered with a local baykeeper organization that did water quality monitoring.
Glick spent this summer mapping the communication pathways for policy makers in counties in Virginia and Maryland. Her research will help improve communication within the community on coastal policy issues and on resource use and planning. Glick says this internship gave her the opportunity to work on-the-ground in marine policy, meeting many community leaders and policy makers, and become familiar with some of the issues coastal communities face.
Glick, who is from Maine, is in her third year at University of Michigan, where she is in a dual masters program in Public Policy and Natural Resources and the Environment. She will graduate in 2012 and plans to pursue a career in environmental policy.
We wish her all the best!
