About the fellowship
- This fellowship provides on-the-job education and training opportunities in coastal resource management and policy for postgraduate students. In addition, fellows provide valuable project assistance to state coastal zone management programs.
- The program matches postgraduate students with state coastal zone programs to work on projects proposed by the state and selected by the NOAA Coastal Services Center. The six host agencies for the 2012 fellowship are:
- Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands Coastal Resources Management Office
- Delaware Coastal Program
- Maryland Chesapeake and Coastal Program
- Massachusetts Office of Coastal Zone Management
- San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development Commission
- Washington State Department of Ecology
- Six new fellowships will be awarded.
- Fellowships run for two years beginning August, 2012.
- Support: $34,000 per year plus medical benefits, travel and relocation expense reimbursement.
Eligibility
- Any student who will complete a master's, doctoral, or professional degree program in natural resource management or environmental-related studies at an accredited U.S. university between January 1, 2011, and July 31, 2012, is eligible.
Application materials (to be submitted to VASG).
- Resume or curriculum vitae (limit to two pages).
- Statement of the applicant's goals with emphasis on what the applicant expects from and can contribute to the fellowship experience (500 words or less).
- Two letters of recommendation, including one from the applicant's principal professor. If no principal professor exists, the faculty member who is most familiar with the applicant's academic work may be substituted.
- Unofficial copies of all undergraduate and graduate student transcripts.

- Confirmation of application receipt will be sent by return email; if you do not receive a confirmation or do not have email access, please contact Susan Park.
- Please allow sufficient time for all application materials to be received before the deadline; incomplete applications will not be considered.
